Greater Bay Airlines will launch scheduled flights between Hong Kong and Sendai on December 7, 2024, confirming reports from earlier this year. The flights will operate four times a week as follows:
- HB360 / Hong Kong – Sendai / 10:05AM – 3:20PM / Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat
- HB361 / Sendai – Hong Kong / 4:20PM – 8:50PM / Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat
Like the airlines other routes, the Sendai route will be operated by Greater Bay Airlines’ only aircraft type, the 189-seat, single-class Boeing 737-800.
The Sendai route launch will follow multiple charter flights the airline operated between Hong Kong and the city in Tohoku between mid-July and mid-August 2024. Greater Bay Airlines will be the first airline to offer scheduled flights on the route since February 2011 when Dragonair (rebranded to Cathay Dragon since then) last operated the route.
“GBA’s direct flights can now bring greater convenience to travellers who no longer need to take a Shinkansen train or a transfer flight from major cities such as Osaka and Tokyo,” said the airline’s press release.
Currently, Greater Bay Airlines offers scheduled flights between Hong Kong and Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai. It is set to expand that network to include Yonago from late October and Tokushima from mid-November 2024.
