JAL to launch Tokyo Narita – Chicago in late May 2025

JAL already operates Tokyo Haneda – Chicago.

JAL will expand its US route network by launching flights between Tokyo Narita and Chicago O’hare on May 31, 2025, in the direction to the US, the airline announced on January 21, 2025. The route will operate daily as follows alongside JAL’s existing daily Tokyo Haneda – Chicago route:

  • JL561 / Tokyo Narita – Chicago / 6:15PM – 4:00PM
  • JL552 / Chicago – Tokyo Narita / 12:30PM – 3:15PM+1

1 Starting from May 31, 2025. Flights between September 1 and October 25, 2025, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 3:45PM.
2 Starting from June 1, 2025. Flights between September 1 and October 25, 2025, scheduled to depart Chicago at 12:10PM.

Tickets for the route will become available for booking on February 12, 2025. The equipment that will be used to operate the route has not been disclosed yet.

According to JAL’s statement, the new route will be launched to “respond to demand for travel between Japan and North America and Southeast Asia/India and North America.”

Currently, ANA offers daily flights between Narita and Chicago. In addition to JAL, ANA and United Airlines also offer daily flights between Haneda and Chicago.

Chicago will be JAL’s seventh North American destination served out of Tokyo Narita. The airline currently connects the airport with Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and Vancouver.
