Tigerair Taiwan will launch flights between Taipei Taoyuan and Miyazaki on November 27, 2024, the airline officially announced following earlier reports citing Miyazaki Prefecture’s governor Shunji Kono. The flights will operate once a week as follows:
- IT742 / Taipei Taoyuan – Miyazaki / 6:30AM – 9:20AM / Tue
- IT743 / Miyazaki – Taipei Taoyuan / 10:10AM – 12:00PM / Tue
“Due to aircraft availability among other reasons, the flights will only operate once a week, but I would like to promote the route’s use so that the frequency can be increased,” said Kono at a prefectural assembly meeting last week. Whether or not the frequency will be increased at a later point remains unclear. The new route will become bookable later today.
While it is not yet clear whether Tigerair Taiwan will use its Airbus A320-200s or A320neos (the only two types it operates) on the route, in either case, it will offer 180 seats, all in economy class, on the flights.
Currently, Asiana Airlines is the only airline with international flights to Miyazaki, offering flights from Seoul. Before the pandemic, China Airlines connected the Japanese city and Taipei.
Tigerair Taiwan currently serves over a dozen cities in Japan including major cities like Tokyo and Osaka, as well as smaller cities like Hanamaki and Komatsu.
