Shimojishima Airport’s business jet terminal set to fully open in late April 2024

Shimojishima Business Jet Terminal
On April 8, 2024, a construction completion ceremony was held.

On April 16, 2024, Mitsubishi Estate announced that Shimojishima Airport’s new business jet is set to fully open on April 21, 2024. The terminal’s construction was completed on March 21, 2024.

The new 248-square-meter terminal will be operated by Shimojishima Airport Management Co., Ltd. and be equipped with a pantry and showers, providing passengers with a place to relax and refresh. Additionally, it will have CIQ (customs, immigration, and quarantine) facilities to allow international private jet flights to and from the airport.

It is the second part of Okinawa Prefecture’s project to utilize Shimojishima Airport and surrounding land. The first part resulted in March 2019’s opening of Shimojishima Airport’s new airline passenger terminal.

At the time of the new airline passenger terminal’s opening, Jetstar Japan started offering flights from Tokyo Narita. While those were later suspended due to the pandemic, the route is set to resume later this month. Other than that, Skymark Airlines connects Shimojishima with Tokyo Haneda, Kobe, and Naha, and Jin Air is planning to launch flights from Seoul Incheon in May 2024.
