Yesterday, August 1, 2024, ANA resumed its Tokyo Haneda – Vienna route after a four-year pause. The first flight to Vienna is on its way now and the first flight in the other direction is scheduled for later today.
The route is scheduled to operate three times a week as follows:
- NH205 / Tokyo Haneda – Vienna / 10:45PM – 6:20AM+1 / Mon, Thu, Sat
- NH206 / Vienna – Tokyo Haneda / 11:25AM – 6:55AM+1 / Tue, Fri, Sun
ANA will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with 215 seats including 48 in business, 21 in premium economy, and 146 in economy class on the route. The first flight is being operated by aircraft registered JA873A wearing the airline’s special Star Wars R2D2 livery.
No other airline offers non-stop flights between Haneda and Vienna. That said, Austrian Airlines offers five weekly (reducing to four in late October) flights from Vienna to Tokyo Narita. While in the past the route used to be year-round, currently, it only operates as a seasonal summer route.
Vienna is now sixth ANA destination in Europe following Frankfurt, Munich, London, Paris, and Brussels. It was first launched in 2019 before being suspended shortly after due to the pandemic.
The resumption follows frequency increases on the Haneda – Munich and Paris routes and precedes the upcoming launch of Milan, Stockholm, and Istanbul in ANA’s post-pandemic European network rebuilding and expansion.
