WestJet operates the Tokyo route using Boeing 787s.

From the beginning of the 2025 winter schedule (i.e., March 30, 2025), WestJet will increase the frequency of its flights between Calgary and Tokyo Narita from the current three weekly to daily. With that, the airline will operate the route as follows:

  • WS80 / Calgary – Tokyo Narita / 3:00PM – 4:30PM+1
  • WS81 / Tokyo Narita – Calgary / 6:35PM – 12:36PM

WestJet will continue to use the only aircraft in its fleet capable of operating the flights, the Boeing 787-9, on the route. Its 787-9s are equipped with 320 seats including 16 in business, 28 in premium economy, and 276 in economy class.

The route was first launched on a seasonal basis in April 2023, making Tokyo WestJet’s first destination in Tokyo. At the beginning of the 2024 summer schedule, it was increased from the previous year’s three weekly to five weekly flights, and then to daily from late April 2024. In May 2024, WestJet announced it would be operating the route year-round, offering three weekly flights during the 2024 winter schedule currently in effect.

Through its codeshare partnership with JAL, WestJet offers passengers flying between Calgary and Tokyo the option to connect to multiple other destinations within Japan.

No other airline offers non-stop flights on the route.
