United postpones Tokyo Narita – Cebu launch amid FAA scrutiny

United Airlines 737
United Airlines is postponing Tokyo – Cebu and Newark – Faro launch.

United Airlines postponed the launch of two new international routes including Tokyo Narita – Cebu due to delays in certifications caused by an ongoing FAA probe into the airline’s safety practices. Flights on the route are now filed from October 27, 2024, rather than the initial July 31, 2024.

The schedule at launch will be slightly different than originally planned due to the launch taking place at the beginning of the 2024 winter schedule rather than during the 2024 summer schedule. The summer schedule launch was planned with the following schedule:

  • UA32 / Tokyo Narita – Cebu / 5:25PM – 9:35PM
  • UA33 / Cebu – Tokyo Narita / 9:15AM – 3:20PM

The flights will be operated by the 737-800 as originally planned.
