United Airlines to add Tokyo Narita – Cebu route as part of global network expansion

Cebu will be the second intra-Pacific route from Tokyo the airline will add this year.

On March 7, 2024, United Airlines announced it will add three new international destinations to its network. In addition to adding flights from the United States to Marrakesh, Morocco, and Medellin, Colombia, the airline will also launch flights from Tokyo Narita to Cebu in the Philippines.

The new year-round route to Cebu will operate daily from July 31, 2024, (a day later in the direction to Tokyo) with the following schedule:

  • UA32 / Tokyo Narita – Cebu / 5:25PM – 9:35PM
  • UA33 / Cebu – Tokyo Narita / 9:15AM – 3:20PM

United will use its Boeing 737-800s with 166 seats including 16 in business and 150 in economy class.

In addition to serving point-to-point passengers and passengers connecting within the region, the new flights to Cebu will also allow for convenient connections to United’s transpacific network out of Tokyo Narita, which includes flights to Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, and Newark.

United will serve the Narita – Cebu route alongside Philippines Airlines and Cebu Pacific, both of which offer daily flights too.

Cebu will be United’s second destination in the Philippines. It currently serves Manila out of San Francisco, Guam, and Palau. It is the only US airline to offer flights from the US mainland to the Philippines.

This announcement follows a relatively recent announcement of United’s plans to launch another intra-Pacific route, Tokyo Haneda – Guam.
