Toki Air to launch Niigata – Sendai in late April 2024

Toki Air ATR 72 at Niigata Airport
Toki Air currently operates two ATR 72s out of Niigata Airport.

On April 12, 2024, Toki Air announced it will launch flights between its Niigata base and Sendai on April 26, 2024. The airline will operate the route five days a week, twice each operational day.

The flights will operate every day except for Tuesdays and Thursdays as follows:

  • BV201 / Niigata – Sendai / 7:35AM – 8:20AM / Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun
  • BV202 / Sendai – Niigata / 8:50AM – 9:40AM / Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun
  • BV203 / Niigata – Sendai / 6:50PM – 7:35PM / Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun
  • BV202 / Sendai – Niigata / 8:05PM – 8:55PM / Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun

Toki Air will use the sole aircraft type, ATR 72, on the route. With that, it will offer 72 seats (all economy class) on each flight.

Currently, no other airline operates the route; it has been approximately 26 years since scheduled Niigata – Sendai flights were operated. The available alternatives for travel between the two cities include bullet trains (approximately 3.5 hours with one transfer) and buses (approximately 4.5 hours).

Niigata – Sendai will be Toki Air’s second route after its inaugural Niigata – Sapporo Okadama route which was launched at the end of January 2024 and operates ten times a week (five days, each with two roundtrips). Going forward, Toki Air also has plans to launch flights from Niigata to Kobe and Nagoya Chubu.
