Following a report by Niigata Sogo Television earlier this week, on September 13, 2024, Toki Air officially announced that it will launch Niigata – Nagoya Chubu route on September 27, 2024. The flights will open for booking on September 17, 2024.
Toki Air will initially operate the route eight times a week (two flights on four days of the week) as follows:
- BV401 / Niigata – Nagoya Chubu / 9:10AM – 10:30AM / Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun
- BV403 / Niigata – Nagoya Chubu / 1:10PM – 2:30PM / Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun
- BV402 / Nagoya Chubu – Niigata / 11:10AM – 12:25PM / Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun
- BV404 / Nagoya Chubu – Niigata / 3:10PM – 4:25PM / Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun
Given the days of operation, Toki Air appears to be targeting leisure passengers interested in travel between the two cities. It will compete with Fuji Dream Airlines’ two daily flights between Niigata and Nagoya Komaki.
While the airline has not announced what type it will use on the route yet, it is likely that its first ATR 42, which rolled out of the ATR factory in Toulouse in July 2024 and is likely to be delivered to the airline shortly, will be used. The two ATR 72s Toki Air currently has in its fleet operate its two existing routes, Niigata – Sapporo and Sendai, with times overlapping with the Nagoya route schedule.
