Thai AirAsia X to return to Don Mueang from October 2024, affecting 4 Japan routes

Before temporarily suspending operations due to the pandemic, Thai AirAsia X used Don Mueang Airport.

Starting from October 1, 2024, all Thai AirAsia X departures out of and arrivals to Bangkok, including the airline’s four routes to Japan, will move back from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang Airport.

While the airline used Don Mueang Airport prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, when it resumed operations in June 2022, it did so out of Suvarnabhumi instead. Mr. “The return of Thai AirAsia X to Don Mueang Airport is a homecoming. We will be joining the strong and extensive AirAsia network, which has a domestic market share of over 40% in Thailand and a vibrant international network,” said Tassapon Bijleveld, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia X.

Thai AirAsia X currently serves two destinations in Japan year-round. It flies twice a day to Tokyo Narita and 11 times a week to Osaka Kansai. The airline also offers seasonal flights to Sapporo New Chitose and plans to resume year-round flights to Nagoya Chubu in August 2024.

The airline plans to inform its passengers booked on flights departing on October 1, 2024, or later about the change on August 1, 2024, or later. The flights currently loaded in the reservation system are still showing as departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport as well.
