To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Narita City becoming a city, Peach decorated one of its aircraft with decals of Unari-kun, the city’s mascot. The “Unari-kun Jet” entered into service on June 20, 2024.
The special livery is worn by an Airbus A320-200 registered JA824P. The roughly six-meters-wide decals were applied to the rear part of the fuselage on both sides of the aircraft on June 19, 2024. They are expected to stay on the aircraft for approximately six months, until around December 2024.
“Unari-kun Jet’s” first flight was MM153 from the airline’s base Osaka Kansai to Fukuoka. Since then, the aircraft also flew to Sapporo, Tokyo Narita, and Naha. Going forward, the aircraft will be deployed across Peach’s network excluding the Osaka Kansai – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi route which is exclusively operated by the A321LR.
ANA, Peach’s parent, also decorated one of its aircraft with Unari-kun decals to celebrate the occasion. Specifically, it added the decals to a Boeing 787-8 registered JA820A, which it uses on international flights.
Narita City, the home of Tokyo Narita Airport, gained its city status through a merger of multiple villages on March 31, 1954.
