Korean Air plans Seoul – Okayama and Kagoshima service increase in summer 2024

Korean Air uses Boeing 737 aircraft on its flights to Okayama and Kagoshima.

Citing increased demand, on May 21, 2024, Korean Air announced it will add two extra weekly frequencies on its Seoul Incheon – Okayama and Kagoshima routes from August and September 2024 respectively. After the expansion, both routes will operate five times a week.

The Okayama route will go from three to five weekly rotations starting on August 3, 2024. From that point on, the flights will operate as follows:

  • KE771 / Seoul Incheon – Okayama / 8:30AM – 10:00AM / Tue*, Wed, Fri, Sat*, Sun
  • KE772 / Okayama – Seoul Incheon / 12:00PM – 1:30PM / Tue*, Wed, Fri, Sat*, Sun

The Kagoshima route will operate five times a week from September 2, 2024, with the following schedule:

  • KE785 / Seoul Incheon – Kagoshima / 9:20AM – 10:55AM / Mon*, Wed, Thu*, Fri, Sun
  • KE786 / Kagoshima – Seoul Incheon / 12:00PM – 1:35PM / Mon*, Wed, Thu*, Fri, Sun

* New frequencies.

On both routes, Korean Air plans to operate a mix of Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft. Depending on the variant, the aircraft offer 138 seats (737-800, including 12 in business class), 173 seats (737-900ER, including eight in business class), or 188 seats (737-900, including eight in business class).

No other airline offers non-stop flights from Okayama and Kagoshima to South Korea.

Korean Air serves ten other destinations in Japan, offering approximately two weekly flights between the countries. In addition to this service expansion, the airline recently also announced it will resume its Jeju – Tokyo Narita route.
