Kansai Airports plans to add five remote stands at Osaka Kansai by spring 2025

Kansai Airport
Kansai Airport is preparing for an expected increase in passengers related to Expo 2025.

Kansai Airports will build five additional remote stands at Osaka Kansai, the airport operator announced on December 10, 2024.

“The new stands are being built to accommodate the network expansion expected in the wake of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and once all are in service, the total number of spots at Kansai International Airport will be 104,” said the company’s statement.

Two of the stands will be located on the northern side of the island with Terminal 1 and three will be located in the international cargo area located on the same island as Terminal 2. The latter are expected to be ready for use from December 26, 2024. The former will be completed around the spring of next year.

The Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka between April 13 and October 13, 2025. In preparation for the expected surge in travel to the region, the government and Kansai Airports are also expanding the nearby Kobe Airport to be able to accommodate international charter flights from mid-April 2025.
