JAL’s codeshare partnership with Vistara to end in late October 2024

Vistara 787 Tokyo Haneda
Before the pandemic, Vistara briefly operated flights between Delhi and Tokyo Haneda.

JAL and Vistara will end their codeshare partnership at the end of the 2024 summer schedule, i.e., on October 26, 2024, ahead of the latter’s merger into Air India. The former will continue to have expanded presence in India through its agreement with IndiGo, which will come into effect this winter schedule.

Vistara plans to operate flights under its own flight numbers until November 11, 2024, after which its flights will be renumbered to Air India flight numbers. Passengers booked on Vistara operated flights marketed by JAL between October 27 and November 11, 2024, will have their flights changed to the same flights but with Vistara flight numbers. Those booked on flights after that will have them changed to the same flights but with Air India flight numbers.

JAL, a oneworld alliance member, and the then-unaffiliated Vistara first started codesharing at the end of February 2019. The two airlines’ also partnered on their frequent flyer programs. That partnership, however, was terminated on September 30, 2024, in preparation for Vistara’s merger into Air India, which is a Star Alliance member.
