JAL to temporarily bring Tokyo – Boston forward by seven hours due to caterer strike

JAL 787-9
JAL’s flight to Boston will temporarily move from a nighttime to a daytime departure.

JAL will temporarily move the schedule of its Tokyo Narita – Boston flights (US-bound only) by over seven hours from July 30, 2024, in response to a planned strike by the airline’s caterer at Boston Airport, Gate Gourmet. At this point, the end date of the strike is unclear.

For the time being, JAL renumbered its Narita – Boston flight from JL8 to JL8008 and brought its departure forward by over seven hours from 6:25PM to 11:00AM until August 13, 2024. During that period, the flights, which are blocked at the same 13 hours as the time difference between Tokyo and Boston, are scheduled to arrive in Boston at 11AM instead of 6:25PM.

In addition to rescheduling the Boston route, JAL will also replace full meal service on flights JL7 from Boston to Tokyo Narita and JL11 from Dallas to Tokyo Haneda with light meals for the duration of the strike.
