JAL partnered with Oriental Land, the operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, on its next Disney Jet, the companies announced on August 26, 2024.

The “JAL Fantastic Journey Express” is expected to debut in late October 2024. The new special livery, inspired by Tokyo DisneySea’s new theme port, Fantasy Springs, will be worn by a Boeing 767-300ER registered JA622J and will tentatively stay in service until November 2025.

In addition to the livery, the aircraft will also feature special, themed service on board. That will include Peter Pan, Frozen, and Tangled-themed (the three movies on which attractions in the new theme port are based) headrest covers, cups, and boarding certificates, as well as the use of You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! from Peter Pan and Journey to Fantasy Springs as onboard music.

While the airline did not announce the expected first flight of the upcoming Disney Jet yet, once in service, the 252-seater with five first, 42 Class J, and 205 economy class seats will operate on of JAL’s domestic routes operated by the 767 on which first class is offered. Those currently include Tokyo – Sapporo, Osaka Itami, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Naha.

JAL’s previous Disney-themed livery, the “Colorful Dreams Express” celebrating Tokyo Disney Resort’s 40th anniversary was in service between June 2023 and May 2024. That was not the first time for JAL to operate a Disney Jet, though. The airline first partnered with Disney in 1994 and since then operated over 20 aircraft in liveries featuring Mickey Mouse and other characters.
