On February 19, 2024, JAL announced it will add seasonal flights from Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai to Taipei Taoyuan Airport during the 2024 summer schedule. This announcement comes on top of the previously announced upcoming resumption of Nagoya Chubu – Shanghai Pudong route.
Daily seasonal flights on the Tokyo Narita – Taipei Taoyuan route will be added between May 1 and 31, 2024, and will operate with the following schedule:
- JL8663 / Tokyo Narita – Taipei Taoyuan / 11:45AM – 2:30PM
- JL8664 / Taipei Taoyuan – Tokyo Narita / 3:40PM – 8:05PM
The flights will operate in addition to the existing daily year-round JL809/JL802 flights on the route. JAL also operates two daily year-round rotations between Tokyo Haneda and Taipei Songshan.
The seasonal flights on the Tokyo Narita – Taipei Taoyuan route will be, like the year-round ones, operated by Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. With that, JAL will offer 24 staggered business class seats and 175 economy class seats on each flight for a total capacity of 199 passengers.
JAL will also add four weekly seasonal flights on the Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan route between May 1 and 31, 2024. The flights will operate as follows:
- JL8667 / Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan / 10:00AM – 11:45AM / Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun
- JL8668 / Taipei Taoyuan – Osaka Kansai / 12:55PM – 4:30PM / Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun
The airline currently operates the route four times a week (albeit on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) but it will only do so until the end of the 2024 winter schedule, with the last flight before the brief pause until May 1, 2024, scheduled for March 29, 2024.
The 2024 summer flights between Osaka and Taipei will be operated by Boeing 787-8 aircraft equipped with 30 JAL SHELL FLAT NEO business class seats and 176 economy class seats for a total capacity of 206 passengers.
