Fukuoka Airport’s expanded international terminal will fully open on March 28, 2025, the airport’s operator Fukuoka International Airport Co. announced on November 6, 2024.
When the expanded terminal fully opens, it will include an expanded concourse with additional boarding bridges. The duty free shopping and security check areas will be expanded and the latter will be equipped with smart lanes. “By expanding the security checkpoint and introducing smart lanes, we will approximately double the processing capacity, making inspections smoother and more stress-free,” said the airport operator’s statement.
The grand opening will follow the opening of the terminal’s new Access Hall, which will allow for easier access to ground transportation to and from the airport, and of a terminal shuttle bus dedicated road in December 2024. Earlier this year, self-check-in machines were added to the terminal and the terminal’s main lounge was expanded, renewed, and moved to a new location.
In addition to expanding its international termina, Fukuoka Airport is also working on the construction of the airport’s second runway to be able to expand its capacity.
