The ‘Shimanekko Jet’ will be the first time for Fuji Dream Airlines to apply decals across windows.

Fuji Dream Airlines signed an aircraft naming rights contract with Shimane Prefecture as part of which it will add decals depicting Shimanekko, the prefecture’s mascot, to one of its aircraft, the airline announced last week.

As part of the contract, which will come into effect on September 1, 2024, and last until March 31, 2025, Fuji Dream will:

  • Name its yellow Embraer E175 registered JA07FJ the “Shimanekko Jet”
  • Add Shimanekko decals to the aircraft and change the aircraft’s headrest covers to Shimanekko-themed ones
  • Play announcements introducing the ‘Shimanekko Jet’ onboard the aircraft

The decals are expected to be applied in early September 2024. The aircraft will be used across Fuji Dream’s network of scheduled and charter flights.

Last month, Fuji Dream announced it signed a naming rights contract with and put into service an aircraft promoting the sports streaming platform DAZN. At the time, Shunichi Kusunose, the airline’s president and COO, it was the eight aircraft for which Fuji Dream sold naming rights, making this the ninth.
