Today, February 22, 2024, ANA’s new low-cost brand AirJapan was scheduled to operate its inaugural flights to and from Seoul Incheon. The two flights, as well as two other, had to be canceled due to issues with its sole aircraft’s main landing gear.

Based on FlightRadar24 data, AirJapan’s sole aircraft, an ex-ANA Boeing 787-8 registered JA803A, last flew from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok on February 21, 2024, arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport on time, around 11:15PM. The aircraft is now on the ground in Bangkok where it will have to be returned into an airworthy condition before returning to Tokyo.

The aircraft’s grounding resulted in the following four flights being canceled on February 22, 2024, for the time being:

  • NQ2 / Bangkok Suvarnabhumi – Tokyo Narita / 12:15AM – 8:10AM
  • NQ21 / Tokyo Narita – Seoul Incheon / 10:55AM – 1:30PM
  • NQ22 / Seoul Incheon – Tokyo Narita / 2:40PM – 4:45PM
  • NQ1 / Tokyo Narita – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi / 5:55PM – 11:15PM

At this point, flight NQ2 from Bangkok to Tokyo on February 23, 2024, is scheduled to operate as planned.

In addition to Bangkok, which was AirJapan’s first destination, and Seoul, the airline will also launch flights to Singapore in April 2024. The airline also expects more aircraft to join its fleet soon.
