On July 7, 2024, JAL’s low-cost subsidiary ZIPAIR transported its two-millionth passenger. The airline achieved the milestone just over four years since starting operations and three years and eight months since transporting its first passenger.

While ZIPAIR launched its first scheduled route, Tokyo Narita – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi on June 3, 2020, due to the pandemic, initially the airline only transported cargo on the flights. Its second route, Tokyo Narita – Seoul Incheon started in a similar fashion on September 12, 2020. ZIPAIR started passenger operations on October 16, 2020, when two passengers took its flight from Tokyo Narita to Seoul.

Today, ZIPAIR operates 57 weekly roundtrips from Tokyo Narita to nine destinations in six countries. In addition to continuing to serve Bangkok and Seoul Incheon, the airline also serves Singapore and Manila in Asia; Honolulu in the Pacific; and San Francisco, San Jose, and Vancouver in North America.

It uses a fleet of eight Boeing 787-8s, all equipped with 290 seats including 18 reverse herringbone full-flat seats and 272 regular economy class seats.
