Vietnam Airlines plans 60 weekly flights on 10 Japan routes during 2024 summer

Vietnam Airlines will continue to serve Japan out of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, and Da Nang.

On March 11, 2024, Vietnam Airlines announced its 2024 summer (March 31 to October 26, 2024) schedule for Japan routes. The airline will continue to operate 10 routes from Vietnam to five destinations in Japan but it will reduce the frequency of two routes.

From its Hanoi hub, Vietnam Airlines will serve five destinations in Japan including Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya Chubu, Osaka Kansai, and Fukuoka. It will serve all of those daily except for Fukuoka, which will see a reduction of frequency from the current five weekly rotations to four.

From Ho Chi Minh, it will serve four destinations including Tokyo Narita, Nagoya Chubu, Osaka Kansai, and Fukuoka. Tokyo and Osaka will be served daily, Nagoya five times a week, and Fukuoka twice a week.

Lastly, Vietnam Airlines will also offer daily flights between Da Nang and Tokyo Narita. It will not resume flights between Da Nang and Osaka Kansai, which were suspended at the beginning of the pandemic.

Starting with flights out of Hanoi, the Tokyo Narita flights will operate using Vietnam Airlines’ three-class Boeing 787-9 aircraft (274 total seats including 28 in business, 35 in premium economy, and 211 in economy class) as follows:

  • VN310 / Hanoi – Tokyo Narita / 12:10AM – 7:35AM
  • VN311 / Tokyo Narita – Hanoi / 9:30AM – 1:05PM

The Hanoi – Tokyo Haneda flights will operate using the same aircraft type as follows:

  • VN384 / Hanoi – Tokyo Haneda / 8:00AM – 3:05PM
  • VN385 / Tokyo Haneda – Hanoi / 4:35AM – 8:10PM

The Hanoi – Nagoya flights will operate using Vietnam Airlines’ A321s with 16 business class seats and either 162 or 168 economy class seats depending on the configuration with the following schedule:

  • VN346 / Hanoi – Nagoya Chubu / 12:15AM – 6:55AM
  • VN347 / Nagoya Chubu – Hanoi / 9:30AM – 12:45PM

The Hanoi – Osaka flights will see a change of flight numbers from the current VN330/VN331 to VN334/VN335. The flights will operate using the A350-900 as follows:

  • VN334 / Hanoi – Osaka Kansai / 12:30AM – 6:40AM
  • VN335 / Osaka Kansai – Hanoi / 10:30AM – 1:20PM

Lastly, the Hanoi – Fukuoka flights will operate using 203-seater A321s with eight business and 195 economy class seats as follows:

  • VN356 / Hanoi – Fukuoka / 1:30AM – 7:35AM / Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat
  • VN357 / Fukuoka – Hanoi / 10:00AM – 12:30PM / Tue, Thu, Fri*, Sat

* On Fridays, the flight will depart at 9:35AM and arrive at 11:55AM.

As for the routes originating in Ho Chi Minh, flights to Tokyo Narita will operate using the same three-class 787-9 as the flights from Hanoi. The schedule will be as follows:

  • VN300 / Ho Chi Minh – Tokyo Narita / 12:15AM – 8:00AM
  • VN301 / Tokyo Narita – Ho Chi Minh / 9:30AM – 1:30PM

The Ho Chi Minh – Nagoya flights will operate using A321s with 16 business class seats as follows:

  • VN340 / Ho Chi Minh – Nagoya Chubu / 12:05AM – 7:30AM / Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun
  • VN341 / Nagoya Chubu – Ho Chi Minh / 9:00AM – 12:45PM / Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun

The Ho Chi Minh – Osaka flights will operate using the A350-900 as follows:

  • VN320 / Ho Chi Minh – Osaka Kansai / 12:10AM – 7:20AM
  • VN321 / Osaka Kansai – Ho Chi Minh / 10:30AM – 2:05PM

The Ho Chi Minh – Fukuoka flights will also use A321s with 16 business class seats, with the following schedule:

  • VN350 / Ho Chi Minh – Fukuoka / 12:15AM – 7:35AM / Wed, Sun
  • VN351 / Fukuoka – Ho Chi Minh / 9:35AM – 12:45PM / Wed, Sun*

* On Sundays, the flight will depart at 10:00AM and arrive at 1:20PM.

Lastly, the Da Nang – Tokyo flights will use the A321 with 16 business class seats too and operate as follows:

  • VN318 / Da Nang – Tokyo Narita / 12:05AM – 7:35AM
  • VN319 / Tokyo Narita – Da Nang / 9:00AM – 12:40PM
