
On March 5, 2024, the Vietnamese low-cost airline VietJet announced it will add a new Japanese destination to its network. From May 12, 2024, the airline will operate two weekly rotations between Hanoi and Hiroshima.
The flights will operate with the following schedule:
- VJ952 / Hanoi – Hiroshima / 6:00AM – 12:30PM / Thu, Sun
- VJ953 / Hiroshima – Hanoi / 1:30PM – 4:20PM / Thu, Sun
VietJet will use its 180-seater, all-economy class Airbus A320-200s on the flights.
The Hanoi – Hiroshima route was first announced in May 2023 at the G7 Summit held in Hiroshima, with launch planned for July 2023. From there, the launch was postponed multiple times, most recently (excluding the latest plan) to March 2024. At this point, there are no non-stop flights between the two cities.
Hiroshima will be VietJet’s sixth destination in Japan after Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka Kansai, Tokyo Haneda, and Tokyo Narita. Currently, the airline offers 56 weekly rotations between Vietnam and Japan across seven routes including:
- Hanoi – Fukuoka (3x week)
- Hanoi – Nagoya (4x week)
- Hanoi – Osaka Kansai (2x day)
- Hanoi – Tokyo Narita (1x day)
- Ho Chi Minh – Osaka Kansai (1x day)
- Ho Chi Minh – Tokyo Haneda (1x day)
- Ho Chi Minh – Tokyo Narita (1x day)
