Takamatsu Airport announced it will refurbish and expand the international area of its terminal to be able to handle three international flights simultaneously as opposed to the current two.

The airport’s operator plans to add 25% more international check-in counters, expand the international waiting area after security by 50%, and double the size of the international arrivals area. It plans to install one additional passenger boarding bridge for international flights to the existing two.

Installation of the boarding bridge is expected to be completed in October 2025 while the expansion of the terminal is scheduled to be completed in August 2026. Grand opening is planned for March 2027 when all refurbishment work is expected to be completed.

In FY2023, Takamatsu Airport handled approximately 260,000 international passengers which was considerably lower than the record 320,000 international passengers it handled in FY2018. However, the airport expects to handle 460,000 international passengers this fiscal year, exceeding the pre-COVID-19 peak.

The airport is currently served twice a day from Seoul (one flight by Air Seoul and Jin Air each), daily from Hong Kong by HK Express, five times a week from Taipei by China Airlines, four times a week from Shanghai by Spring Airlines, and three times a week from Taichung by Starlux Airlines.
