Spring Japan appoints Tatsuro Asami as its president from April 2024

Spring Japan announced that at a board meeting held on March 26, 2024, it decided to appoint Tatsuro Asami as the company’s next president. Asami will start his new position on April 1, 2024, taking over the role from Akira Yonezawa who will retire the day before.

The 44-year old Asami joined JAL over 20 years ago in 2002. In 2017, he was appointed a manager in SVP The Americas’s office, and in 2019, he was promoted to head the Americas routes group of JAL’s international routes division. In 2023, he was appointed to his current role as the head of the planning group within JAL’s route marketing department.

Spring Airlines was founded as a joint venture between China’s Spring Airlines and JAL, with the latter owning two-thirds of the company.
