Singapore Airlines to deploy A380 on Tokyo Narita flights in spring 2025

Singapore Airlines A380 Landing at Tokyo Narita
This will not be the first time for Singapore Airlines to use the A380 on its Narita route.

Singapore Airlines will upgauge one of its two daily rotations between Singapore and Tokyo Narita from the current Boeing 787-10 to the Airbus A380-800 between March 30 and May 31, 2025, in the direction from Singapore and a day later in the other direction.

The rotation to be upgauged is the airline’s redeye from Singapore and the corresponding return flight:

  • SQ638 / Singapore – Tokyo Narita / 11:55PM – 8:00AM+1
  • SQ637 / Tokyo Narita – Singapore / 11:10AM – 5:20PM

With the equipment change, Singapore Airlines will offer 471 seats on each flight instead of the 337 seats the 787-10 is equipped with. In addition to the A380 offering over double the number of seats in business class (78 vs. 36) and 42 more seats in economy class (343 vs. 301), the aircraft also has six first class suites and 44 premium economy class seats.

The equipment change will also mean that, during the two-month period, Singapore Airlines will offer four classes of service on both of its flights between Singapore and Tokyo Narita, as well as on one of its three daily flights to Tokyo Haneda. The other rotation to Tokyo Narita, which continues to Los Angeles, and the four-class Tokyo Haneda rotation are both operated using Boeing 777-300ERs.

Previously Singapore Airlines sent its A380s to Tokyo Narita during the 2023 winter schedule and during various periods before the COVID-19 pandemic.
