Yamato Transport added A321P2Fs to its fleet. The aircraft are operated by Spring Japan.

MRO Japan announced it sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a German provider of passenger-to-freight (P2F) conversion services. In the MoU, EFW agreed to outsource A320P2F and A321P2F conversion work to MRO Japan.

With that, MRO Japan, which has maintenance facilities at Naha Airport in Okinawa, will be the first Japanese company to do Airbus passenger-to-freighter conversion.

EFW developed the Airbus A320P2F and A321P2F conversion program in cooperation with ST Engineering and Airbus. In Japan, Yamato Transport recently acquired A321P2Fs converted by ST Engineering in Singapore.

The ANA-backed MRO Japan currently provides maintenance services to both selected Japanese airlines including ANA and Air Do, as well as to foreign airlines like Starlux. Recently, the company, which is the only maintenance provider in Japan to be EASA-certified, also announced its entry into the end-of-lease maintenance services market.
