Fukuoka Airport’s operator Fukuoka International Airport Co. is renewing its international contract lounge, Lounge Fukuoka. The new 216-seat Lounge Fukuoka is now set to open on September 27, 2024, the company announced yesterday.

The lounge’s location will be moved from the current main departure (third) floor to one floor above it. With that, the size of the lounge will be more than doubled to over 1,000 square meters. The lounge will continue to be open from the time immigration opens up to the day’s last flight’s boarding time. It will continue to be accessible to business class passengers and status holders traveling on contracted airlines, as well as to Priority Pass members.

According to the airport’s operator, the design of the lounge is Fukuoka-inspired and will feature displays of traditional Fukuoka pottery in addition to also being equipped with furniture made from Fukuoka-grown materials. Additionally, an aroma “developed with Fukuoka in mind, will use silver plum blossoms, a specialty of Kurume, to create a special, high-quality space where you can experience Fukuoka with all five senses,” the statement said.

In addition to providing a renewed space overlooking the runway, which will consist of a “Relax Zone” with sofas and “Business Zone” with counters, workspaces, and phone booths, the lounge’s menu will also be renewed. “In addition to standard menu items such as curry, customers will be able to enjoy Fukuoka specialties such as mentaiko french fries and Hakata ramen, as well as sake and shochu produced in Fukuoka Prefecture,” the company said.

The lounge renewal is part of an overall project to improve the facilities at Fukuoka Airport’s international terminal ahead of the completion of the airport’s second runway and related expansion in capacity.
