Asiana Airlines operates last passenger 747-400 service to Japan

Seoul – Sapporo was Asiana passenger 747’s last scheduled route to Japan.

Asiana Airlines currently operates one last passenger Boeing 747-400. On February 29, 2024, the airline operated the type’s last scheduled flight to Japan.

The airline received its first 747-400 in 1991 and at peak opearted nine of the passenger variant in addition to freighters. Asiana’s 747-400s could be seen in Japan regularly throughout the years, mainly operating flights between Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita. Additionally, the last Asiana 747 was regularly operating flights to Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, and Sapporo New Chitose over the last year.

The aircraft’s last flight to Japan took place on February 29, 2024, on the Seoul Incheon – Sapporo New Chitose route. With Sapporo’s busy winter season coming to an end, Asiana will be using Airbus A330-300s on the route starting from today.

Asiana’s last scheduled passenger 747-400 flight to Japan was also the last scheduled passenger 747-400 to Japan overall. That said, the country continues to get a daily 747 service in the form of Lufthansa’s 747-8 from Frankfurt to Tokyo Haneda.

The last scheduled flight of Asiana’s sole remaining passenger 747 is expected to be on March 25, 2024, on the Seoul Incheon – Taipei Taoyuan route.
