Kagoshima Airport’s international network rebuilt with China Eastern’s resumption

China Eastern plans to use Airbus A320 aircraft on the route.

China Eastern Airlines will resume its Shanghai Pudong – Kagoshima route today, July 16, 2024, four and a half years after the route’s February 2020 suspension. Going forward, the flights will operate twice a week as follows:

  • MU761 / Shanghai Pudong – Kagoshima / 10:05AM – 12:50PM / Tue, Sat*
  • MU762 / Kagoshima – Shanghai Pudong / 1:50PM – 2:40PM / Tue, Sat*

* On Saturdays, the flights are scheduled to depart Shanghai 10 minutes earlier and arrive in Shanghai five minutes later than the times indicated above.

The first flight, scheduled to depart later today, is listed as being operated by Airbus A320neo registered B-30CX. Regardless of whether future flights will be operated by the same type or the A320-200, China Eastern will plans to offer 158 seats including eight in business and 150 in economy class on the route.

Shanghai is the fourth international destination that will have non-stop service from Kagoshima. It is also the last international destination to resume after all international flights to the airport were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The three other destinations include Hong Kong (served by HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines), Seoul Incheon (Korean Air), and Taipei Taoyuan (China Airlines).
