Jetstar Japan is one of over half a dozen airlines serving the Osaka – Taipei route.

Jetstar Japan will increase the frequency of its Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan flights from the current one to two daily flights starting from December 14, 2024.

Once the increase takes effect, the route will operate as follows except for Tuesdays and Sundays between January 21 and February 23, 2025:

  • GK51 / Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan / 11:20PM – 1:30AM+1
  • GK55 / Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan / 2:55PM – 5:10PM*
  • GK50 / Taipei Taoyuan – Osaka Kansai / 2:30AM – 6:00AM
  • GK54 / Taipei Taoyuan – Osaka Kansai / 6:10PM – 9:40PM**

* Frequency to be operated from December 14, 2024. Arriving ten minutes later on Mondays and Tuesdays and operating one hour later on Sundays.
** Frequency to be operated from December 14, 2024. Departing five minutes earlier on Thursdays, and operating 10 minutes later on Mondays and Tuesdays and one hour later on Sundays.

On Tuesdays and Sundays between January 21 and February 23, 2025, the new frequency will operate in the morning rather than the afternoon using different flight numbers:

  • GK53 / Osaka Kansai – Taipei Taoyuan / 7:25AM – 9:35AM / Tue*, Sun
  • GK52 / Taipei Taoyuan – Osaka Kansai / 10:35AM – 2:05PM / Tue*, Sun

* Operating 20 minutes later on Tuesdays.

Jetstar Japan will continue to use its all-economy class 180-seater Airbus A320-200s on the existing rotation and will use the same type on the new frequency as well.

The airline resumed the Osaka – Taipei route on March 31, 2024, after a hiatus caused by the pandemic. Once the frequency is increased, it will be Jetstar Japan’s only international route out of Kansai Airport operated twice a day.

The route is highly competitive with a wide variety of airlines including JAL and all three major Taiwanese airlines (China Airlines, EVA Air, and Starlux Airlines), low-costs such as Peach, Tigerair Taiwan, AirAsia X, and Thai VietJet Air, and even Cathay Pacific, offering over 15 total roundtrips a day.
