In August 2024, JAL will deploy Boeing 787-8s on its Tokyo Haneda – Ishigaki route for the first time. To commemorate the occasion, the airline will temporarily upgrade service on the nearly three-hour domestic route.

  • Serving passengers traveling in economy class Butters Butter Milk Cake Caramel cake
  • Offering passengers in all classes JAL-branded USB-C/Lightning charging cables (on request)

The upgraded service will not be offered on the route in case of equipment change from the 787-8 to another aircraft type.

In addition to the upgrades, passengers traveling on the route will also receive the regular service, which consists of a meal and drinks in first class and of soft drinks in Class J and economy class.

JAL operates two daily roundtrips between Tokyo Haneda and Ishigaki, one in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. It currently operates both flights using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 252 seats including five in first class, 42 in Class J, and 205 in economy class.

Between August 1 and August 31, the airline plans to use the 787-8, which is equipped with 291 seats including six in first class, 58 in Class J, and 227 in economy class, on both flights. With that, the airline will offer 39 extra seats on each flight, including one extra in first class, 16 in Class J, and 22 in economy class.
