On May 15, 2024, JAL announced it will decorate one of the 787-8s it uses on international flights with MYAKU-MYAKU, the mascot of EXPO 2025, which will be held in Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
The aircraft will be the group’s second “MYAKU-MYAKU JET.” It will enter into service on June 3, 2024, and is expected to stay in the livery August 2025. Its first flight will be JL77 from Tokyo Haneda to Manila.
The aircraft, JA823J, is equipped with 206 seats including 30 in business and 176 in economy class seats, and will be mainly used on flights from Tokyo Haneda to Seoul Gimpo, Taipei Songshan, Dalian, Shanghai Pudong, and Ho Chi Minh; from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi; and from Osaka Kansai to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Taipei Taoyuan.
JAL first introduced the “MYAKU-MYAKU JET” livery on an Embraer E190 operated by its regional subsidiary J-Air. The E190 entered into service in the livery on November 28, 2023, and is used exclusively on domestic flights. It is expected to stay in the livery until May 2025.One
One more “MYAKU-MYAKU JET” is expected to follow later. The third aircraft in the series is expected to be JAL mainline aircraft used on domestic flights.
