JAL Mileage Bank extends mileage validity to five years

JAL significantly modified its frequent flyer program a year ago.

JAL Mileage Bank will extend the validity of miles earned in January 2025 and later from the current three years to five years. It will also expand the range of statuses eligible for unlimited mileage validity.

Under the former system, miles earned by JAL Mileage Bank members with one to four stars were valid for three years with miles held by five and six stars members having no expiration. The new system extends the validity for one to three star members to five years and makes four star members eligible for unlimited validity alongside five and six star members.

The change comes a year after JAL completely overhauled its frequent flyer program introducing “Life Status” points tied to lifetime statuses.
