The maximum number of miles required to book domestic JAL award tickets will increase considerably.

The number of miles required to book selected Japanese domestic award tickets using JAL Mileage Bank will increase for tickets booked on July 11, 2024, and later.

While the base miles required to book economy and Class J tickets will remain the same, the maximum number of extra miles needed to book “PLUS” tickets for flights with high demand and unavailable at the base level (such as on weekends) will increase significantly. Additionally, both the number of base miles, as well as extra miles required to book first class tickets will increase.

The maximum number of extra miles required to book “PLUS” non-stop one-way economy class tickets will increase by 3,000 to 9,500 miles and be as follows:

  • Zone A (Sapporo – Hakodate, etc.): 18,500 miles (+3,000 miles)
  • Zone B (Tokyo – Yamagata, etc.): 22,500 miles (+4,000 miles)
  • Zone C (Tokyo – Osaka, etc.): 23,500 miles (+4,000 miles)
  • Zone D (Tokyo – Hiroshima, etc.): 31,000 miles (+5,000 miles)
  • Zone E (Tokyo – Sapporo, etc.): 39,500 miles (+6,500 miles)
  • Zone F (Tokyo – Naha, etc.): 44,500 miles (+7,000 miles)
  • Zone G (Tokyo – Ishigaki, etc.): 51,500 miles (+9,500 miles)

The maximum “PLUS” add-on charge for non-stop one-way Class J awards will be 3,500 to 9,500 miles than right now:

  • Zone A (Sapporo – Hakodate, etc.): 19,500 miles (+3,500 miles)
  • Zone B (Tokyo – Yamagata, etc.): 23,000 miles (+3,500 miles)
  • Zone C (Tokyo – Osaka, etc.): 24,000 miles (+4,000 miles)
  • Zone D (Tokyo – Hiroshima, etc.): 32,500 miles (+5,000 miles)
  • Zone E (Tokyo – Sapporo, etc.): 41,000 miles (+6,500 miles)
  • Zone F (Tokyo – Naha, etc.): 46,500 miles (+7,500 miles)
  • Zone G (Tokyo – Ishigaki, etc.): 53,500 miles (+9,500 miles)

Lastly, the base mileage required to book non-stop one-way first class awards will increase by 2,000 to 4,000 miles and the maximum extra miles required to book “PLUS” tickets will increase by 4,000 to 10,500 miles. With that, the new pricing will be as follows (there are no Zone A and B flights with first class):

  • Zone C (Tokyo – Osaka, etc.): 24,000 miles (+4,000 miles)
  • Zone D (Tokyo – Hiroshima, etc.): 32,500 miles (+5,000 miles)
  • Zone E (Tokyo – Sapporo, etc.): 41,000 miles (+6,500 miles)
  • Zone F (Tokyo – Naha, etc.): 46,500 miles (+7,500 miles)
  • Zone G (Tokyo – Ishigaki, etc.): 53,500 miles (+9,500 miles)

The mileage required to book connecting itineraries will change similarly.
