From January 2, 2025, JAL will operate all flights on its morning rotation out of Tokyo Haneda to London Heathrow using the Airbus A350-1000. Until then, it will continue using the Boeing 777-300ER every other day.
Once the daily A350-1000 service to London starts, JAL will be deploying the A350-1000 daily on the following flights:
- JL4/JL3 and JL6/JL5 between Tokyo Haneda and New York
- JL12/JL11 between Tokyo Haneda and Dallas Forth Worth
- JL43/JL44 between Tokyo Haneda and London Heathrow
JAL currently has 7 A350-1000s in its fleet with one more expected to be delivered before the end of this fiscal year (March 31, 2025). Eventually, JAL plans to replace all of its originally 13 777-300ERs with A350-1000s on a one-to-one basis.
While the next route to switch from the 777 to the A350 has not been announced yet, it is expected the airline’s second daily rotation to London (JL41/JL42) will follow before the new flagship is deployed to its next destination.
The A350-1000s are equipped with brand new seats compared to the 777-300ER in all classes, including JAL’s first first and business class seats with doors. The aircraft can sit 239 passengers including six in first, 54 in business, 24 in premium economy, and 155 in economy class.
