JAL, Finnair to reduce Tokyo – Helsinki between late October 2024 and March 2025

JAL will reduce service on its Tokyo Haneda – Helsinki route and Finnair on its Helsinki – Tokyo Narita route from the current five and six, respectively, to three weekly rotations during the 2024 winter schedule.

From October 27, 2024, until the end of March 2025, JAL’s route to Helsinki will stop operating on Thursdays and Saturdays and will operate as follows:

  • JL47 / Tokyo Haneda – Helsinki / 8:25AM – 3:40PM / Tue, Fri, Sun
  • JL48 / Helsinki – Tokyo Haneda / 5:40PM – 1:55PM+1 / Tue, Fri, Sun

JAL will continue to operate the route using its Boeing 787-8s configured for long-haul flights with 186 seats including 30 in business and 156 in economy class.

Finnair will suspend Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday frequencies and operate the route as follows:

  • AY73 / Helsinki – Tokyo Narita / 5:45PM – 2:05PM+1 / Tue, Thu, Sat
  • AY74 / Tokyo Narita – Helsinki / 11:10PM – 5:00AM+1 / Wed, Fri, Sun

Finnair will continue to use its less-premium heavy configuration of the A350-900 on the route, offering a total of 321 seats including 30 in business, 26 in premium economy, and 265 in economny class.

The airline’s Helsinki – Tokyo Haneda route will continue to operate daily throughout the winter schedule.

JAL and Finnair are the only two airlines offering non-stop flights between the two capitals.
