
On March 8, 2024, JAL outlined its freighter operations for the first half of its FY2024 schedule (March 31 to October 26, 2024). The airline will add flights between Tokyo Narita and Hong Kong, as well as add an extra weekly non-stop rotation between Narita and Shanghai Pudong.
The Hong Kong route will operate once a week as follows:
- JL6781 / Tokyo Narita – Hong Kong / 7:30PM – 11:10PM / Sat
- JL6782 / Hong Kong – Tokyo Narita / 1:10AM – 6:35AM / Sun
The non-stop Shanghai route currently runs once a week and will become twice weekly from March 31, 2024, as follows:
- JL6785 / Tokyo Narita – Shanghai Pudong / 11:20PM – 2:00AM+1 / Sat, Sun*
- JL6784 / Shanghai Pudong – Tokyo Narita / 3:40AM – 7:45AM / Sun, Mon*
* Frequency to be added from March 31, 2024.
In addition to the two routes above, JAL Cargo will continue operating Tokyo Narita – Taipei Taoyuan – Nagoya Chubu – Tokyo Narita and Tokyo Narita – Nagoya Chubu – Shanghai Pudoing – Tokyo Narita flights every Monday through Friday.
All of the flights will use the sole freighter type in JAL’s fleet, the 767-300BCF. JAL resumed dedicated freighter operations for the first time in 13 years back in February 2024. It currently has one in its fleet and expects to add two more by the end of FY2025.
