JAL to establish JAL Aviofuture Lab focused on sustainability research

In the past, JAL operated “Eco Jets,” aircraft in liveries promoting sustainability.

On June 14, 2024, JAL announced its plans to establish JAL Aviaofuture Lab Co., Ltd. on July 1, 2024. The new company will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the airline and will focus on research related to sustainable growth of the aviation industry. In addition to research, the company will also collaborate with academia to nurture the next generation of aviation professionals.

The subsidiary will be led by Yoriyuki Kashiwagi who will, in addition to his current post of managing director responsible for JAL’s policy center, also be the President of JAL Aviofuture Lab.
