JAL to lower international flight fuel surcharges in April 2024

JAL’s fuel surcharges are tied to the price of kerosene in Singapore converted to Japanese yen.

JAL revises its international ticket fuel surcharges every two months based on a schedule of surcharges tied to Singapore’s kerosene price. In April and May 2024, the fuel surcharges will be lower than they are right now.

At the end of February 2024, the airline filed the following fuel surcharges with Japan’s transport ministry for tickets departing from Japan (one-way fuel surcharge):

  • South Korea, Russian Far East: 3,500 yen (currently 5,300 yen)
  • East Asia (excluding Mongolia and South Korea): 8,500 yen (10,300 yen)
  • Guam, Palao, Philippines, Vietnam, Mongolia, Irkutsk: 11,000 yen (16,100 yen)
  • Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Novosibirsk: 18,000 yen (23,000 yen)
  • Hawaii, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka: 21,000 yen (28,200 yen)
  • North America, Europe, Middle East, Oceania: 33,000 yen (43,600 yen)
