JAL 737-800 tire bursts upon landing at Tokyo Haneda, no injuries reported

JAL flight 182 from Komatsu to Tokyo on January 9, 2025, had its tire burst upon landing at Haneda Airport. The flight was operated by a Boeing 737-800 registered JA338J.

The incident happened around 9:23AM as the aircraft landed on runway 22. The aircraft’s tire was changed on the taxiway after landing and it continued to its arrival gate at Terminal 1, where it arrived approximately two and a half hours behind schedule, at 11:21AM. There were 58 passengers including one infant and seven crew members including three pilots and four cabin crew members on the aircraft. No injuries were reported.

Following the incident, the runway remained closed for approximately 30 minutes. Two flights that were scheduled to be operated by the same aircraft, JL663 to Oita and JL668 back to Tokyo, were canceled.

The Japan Civil Aviation Bureau is investigating the cause of the incident.
