Alitalia’s successor ITA Airways increased the frequency of its sole route to Japan, Rome Fiumicino – Tokyo Haneda, from five weekly to daily by adding flights on Mondays and Wednesdays in the direction to Tokyo, and Tuesdays and Thursdays in the other direction.
The departure and arrival times of the flights will change slightly from what they are now once the 2024 summer schedule sets in on March 31, 2024. From then until the schedule’s end in late October 2024, the route will operate as follows:
- AZ792 / Rome Fiumicino – Tokyo Haneda / 2:55PM – 10:25AM+1
- AZ793 / Tokyo Haneda – Rome Fiumicino / 12:25PM – 8:10PM
ITA Airways will continue using its Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 334 seats including 33 in business and 301 in economy class on the route.
Currently, ITA Airways’ Rome – Tokyo route, which first operated on November 5, 2022, is the only non-stop link between Japan and Italy. That is expected to change in the second half of this year, however, as ANA is planning to launch flights from Tokyo Haneda to Milan Malpensa.
