One of the first measures Japan’s transport ministry took after the January 2, 2024, collision at Haneda Airport was creating a new role responsible solely for monitoring the radar for runway incursions. The new role was first implemented at Haneda Airport. Starting from January 17, 2024, the role was also added at Tokyo Narita, Nagoya Chubu, Osaka Itami, Osaka Kansai, Fukuoka, and Naha.
