On June 11, 2024, Ibex Airlines announced it will renew its Musubimaru Jet, an aircraft featuring a special Miyagi Prefecture-themed livery. Like the previous and current generation Musubimaru Jets, a Bombardier CRJ-700 registered JA14RJ will wear the livery. The airline has not revealed the actual livery in advance.
The aircraft is expected to fly for the first time in the revamped livery on June 29, 2024, on Ibex flight 41 from Sendai to Hiroshima. From then on, it will appear on flights throughout Ibex’s network.
Ibex Airlines signed a partnership with Miyagi Prefecture, where the airline’s hub Sendai is located, in January 2018. As a result of that, the first-generation Musubimaru Jet entered into service in May 2018. The aircraft then received the second-generation livery, which was selected through a social media contest in April 2021. In addition to Musubimaru, the mascot of Miyagi Prefecture, the current livery also features Tanabata (Star Festival) and Milky Way-themed elements.
In addition to the Musubimaru Jet, Ibex also operates a CRJ-700 in a livery promoting Rakuten Eagles, a professional baseball team based in Sendai.
