On February 14, 2024, Garuda Indonesia published the 2024 summer (March 31 to October 26) schedule for its Japan routes. The airline will continue to connect Tokyo Haneda with Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, as well as Narita with Denpasar in Bali and Manado in North Sulawesi.
Garuda Indonesia currently operates the Jakarta – Haneda route four times a week (every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday in the direction from Indonesia and a day later in the other direction) but it plans to increase the frequency to daily when the summer schedule sets in on March 31, 2024. The flights are scheduled to operate as follows:
- GA874 / Jakarta – Tokyo Haneda / 11:25PM – 8:50AM
- GA875 / Tokyo Haneda – Jakarta / 11:45AM – 5:35PM
While currently, the route is generally served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, during the summer schedule, Garuda Indonesia plans to deploy the newer A330-900 on the route. Garuda’s A330-900s are equipped with 24 staggered business class seats and 277 economy class seats for a total capacity of 301 passengers.
In addition to Garuda Indonesia, ANA connects Jakarta with both Haneda and Narita and JAL with Narita.
The Narita – Denpasar and Narita – Manado routes will continue to operate on the same days in the summer as they do now. The former will operate every day except Tuesdays in the direction to Japan and Thursdays in the other direction. The latter will operate on the days lacking a non-stop Narita – Denpasar connection and continue from Manado to Denpasar.
The non-stop flights will operate as follows:
- GA880 / Denpasar – Tokyo Narita / 12:20AM – 8:50AM / Except Thu
- GA881 / Tokyo Narita – Denpasar / 11:00AM – 5:25PM / Except Tue
The flights via Manado will operate as follows:
- GA884 / Denpasar – Manado / 10:35PM – 1:00AM+1 / Wed
- GA884 / Manado – Tokyo Narita / 2:00AM – 8:50AM / Thu
- GA885 / Tokyo Narita – Manado / 11:00AM – 3:50PM / Tue
- GA885 / Manado – Denpasar / 4:50PM – 7:20PM / Tue
The Narita – Denpasar flights, both non-stop and via Manado, are scheduled to be operated using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 36 business class seats in a 2-2-2 layout and 215 economy class seats for a total capacity of 251 passengers. Garuda also has A330-300s in an all-economy configuration and in configuration with reverse herringbone business class seats.
Garuda Indonesia is the only airline offering non-stop service from Tokyo to Denpasar and Manado.
At this point, Garuda Indonesia has no plans to resume flights to Osaka. Before the pandemic, it connected Kansai Airport with both Jakarta (GA888/GA889) and Denpasar (GA882/GA883).
