With the cherry blossom season in Japan almost here, Finnair’s cabin crew will wear Marimekko yukatas (summer kimonos) on flights between Helsinki and Tokyo Haneda until April 7, 2024. This year’s first flight with the thematic service was March 25’s AY61 to Haneda.

In addition to the thematic cabin crew “uniforms,” passengers on the first flight also received Geisha candies and had a chance to try origami (paper folding art) at their departure gate in Helsinki.

Finnair started the tradition of “sakura flights” in 2014. In the past, all flights between Helsinki and Japan during the designated period were “sakura flights.” This year, they are limited to the Tokyo Haneda route. Finnair’s four weekly flights to Tokyo Narita and six weekly flights to Osaka Kansai are excluded.
