Doha – Tokyo Haneda business class passengers provided free taxi rides upon arrival

Recently, Qatar Airways discontinued its flight to Tokyo Haneda and its oneworld partner JAL started operating the route instead.

JAL and Qatar Airways have been offering 20,000 yen (127 USD) taxi vouchers to passengers traveling in business class on JAL flight 50 from Doha to Tokyo Haneda (codeshare Qatar Airways flight 4850). The vouchers are enough to cover trips from Tokyo Haneda Airport to most other parts of Tokyo.

The vouchers are offered due to the flights being scheduled to arrive at Haneda at 11:55PM. Accounting for the time it takes to clear immigration and customs, that arrival time leaves most passengers with very limited public transportation options. Passengers traveling from Tokyo to Doha do not receive vouchers since accessing the airport by public transportation prior to the flight’s 10:50PM departure is possible.

Passengers traveling in group and sharing a taxi do not get multiple vouchers, instead, the limit is 20,000 yen per vehicle. Additionally, the vouchers can only be used on the day of arrival (technically the following day, since the flights arrive just before midnight), on taxis operated by Nihon Kotsu. No refunds are provided for taxi rides under 20,000 yen. Passengers are required to pay the difference for taxi rides over 20,000 yen.

In addition to the newly introduced taxi vouchers available to business class passengers regardless of whether they booked the flight with JAL or Qatar Airways flight number, Qatar Airways offers additional perks to those who booked their Doha – Tokyo Haneda flight under the Qatar Airways code:

  • Free usage of Heiwajima Onsen spa after arrival for passengers in all classes
  • 4,000 yen (25 USD) discount per person off Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport’s day use plan for passengers in all classes
  • 4,000 yen (25 USD) discount per person off Henn na Hotel Haneda regular rate for passengers in all classes

The perks are only available to those who purchased regular tickets. They are not available to those traveling on award, staff, and other such tickets.
