On September 3, 2024, China Eastern will resume one-stop flights from Taiyuan to Nagoya Chubu via Yantai. For the time being, flights up to October 26, 2024, are available for booking. It is unclear whether the flights will continue operating during the 2024 winter schedule.

China Eastern plans to operate the route three times a week as follows:

  • MU5073 / Taiyuan – Yantai / 7:55AM* – 9:15AM / Tue, Thu, Sat
  • MU5073 / Yantai – Nagoya Chubu / 12:15PM – 4:10PM / Tue, Thu, Sat
  • MU5074 / Nagoya Chubu – Yantai / 5:10PM – 7:00PM / Tue, Thu, Sat
  • MU5074 / Yantai – Taiyuan / 8:10PM – 10:15PM / Tue, Thu, Sat

* The flight will depart Taiyuan at 7:40AM on Saturdays.

China Eastern will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 174 seats including eight in business and 166 in economy class on the route.

The route will be the only non-stop connection between Yantai and Japan and China Eastern’s first non-stop route to Nagoya Chubu to resume after Shanghai, which it currently serves four times a day.

China Eastern operated the Taiyuan – Yantai – Nagoya Chubu route four times per week until February 2020, when it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, it also offered non-stop flights to Nagoya from Beijing, Xian, and Chengdu.

Update (September 6, 2024): When the route was initially made available for booking, only flights until September 30, 2024, were sold. Now the route is available for sale until the end of the 2024 summer schedule.
