On July 16, 2024, China Eastern Airlines will resume its flights between Shanghai Pudong and Kagoshima. With that, Kagoshima’s international flight will have rebuilt its international network to include all routes that the airport had before the pandemic.

The flights will operate twice a week with the following schedule:

  • MU761 / Shanghai Pudong – Kagoshima / 10:05AM – 12:50PM / Tue, Sat*
  • MU762 / Kagoshima – Shanghai Pudong / 1:50PM – 2:40PM / Tue, Sat*

* On Saturdays, the flights are scheduled to depart Shanghai 10 minutes earlier and arrive in Shanghai five minutes later than the times indicated above.

China Eastern will use its Airbus A320s on the route, offering 156 seats including eight in business and 148 in economy class on each flight.

The Shanghai Pudong – Kagoshima route was, like the airport’s other international routes, suspended at the beginning of the pandemic. The resumption comes approximately four and a half years after the route’s February 2020 suspension. It is the last of the four international routes that served Kagoshima Airport before the pandemic to be resumed.

In July 2023, HK Express became the first international airline to return to Kagoshima (Hong Kong Airlines also started operating the route in March 2024). In October 2023, Korean Air’s route from Seoul Incheon followed. The third international destination to resume was China Airlines’ Taipei Taoyuan.
